A Turkish player criticizes the international silence regarding the aggression against Gaza sports

Turkish Galatasaray club player Halil Darvishoglu explained the meaning of the movement he made after scoring a goal in his team’s match in the Turkish Football Cup.

He revealed that it symbolized “the world’s silent face” regarding the Israeli aggression against Gaza that has been ongoing for more than 100 days, criticizing the ignoring of what is happening in the Strip.

After scoring the fourth goal for his team against Omraniyeaspor from a penalty kick, Darvishoglu did not celebrate the goal, but merely covered his eyes with his hand and put his finger in front of his mouth, in reference to (international) silence.

The player said on his Instagram account – yesterday, Friday – “I did not celebrate, I just expressed the face of the world.” He accompanied his post with an emoji of the Palestinian flag and preceded it with the word “Freedom.”

Since last October 7, the Israeli occupation has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that has left about 25,000 martyrs, more than 62,000 injured, and an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, and caused the displacement of about two million people, meaning more than 85% of the Strip’s population.
