During the UN General Assembly’s discussion of a call for a ceasefire in Gaza, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan, waved a picture of the leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Yahya Sinwar, attached to his personal phone number, saying that he is the one who can stop the war.

But Hamas did not hesitate to do so She replied By publishing his own number, he then received a series of insults, personal attacks, and threats against his family through his phone.

The Jerusalem Post website said that Erdan received a torrent of insults, especially from an Indonesian phone number whose owner issued threats to the Israeli ambassador, threatening that he would kill him and his family.

One message began friendlyly, saying: “Hello, why did you try to display what you said was our commander’s number?”, before quickly changing tone, saying: “We could kill you and your family soon.”

After Erdan showed Sinwar’s number, the Israeli Channel 13 news studio tried last Tuesday night to call the number.

This task was undertaken by journalist Gil Tamari, but it appears, according to him, that the number was either broken or that the phone was switched off, with the caller going directly to voice mail.

Tamari added that he sent a voice message to Sinwar saying, “Yahya Sinwar, if I meet you, and this is your number, it would be better for you to surrender.” Another person added, “Return the hostages.”

The United Nations General Assembly had adopted a resolution, with a majority of 153 members, 10 against, and 23 abstentions, calling for a humanitarian ceasefire, the immediate release of all hostages, and ensuring the arrival of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
