In Colombia, Shakira was immortalized on Wednesday in her hometown of Barranquilla. Authorities unveiled a bronze aluminum statue in honor of the pop diva.
The 6.5 meter high monument depicts Isabel Shakira Mebarak Ripoll, her real name, in one of her famous belly dancing outfits.
But this isn’t the first Shakira statue in the city. Another representation of the singer was unveiled near the entrance to the football stadium.
Shakira thanked sculptor Yino Marquez and his students at the Barranquilla Public Art Academy for the latest statue, which she described on X (formerly Twitter) as proof of the “enormous talent” of Barranquilla’s citizens .
The Colombian pop star won three Latin Grammys this year.
She also made headlines in January, when she released a fiery rap song about her ex-partner that broke YouTube records.
Shakira also settled a tax fraud case in Spain with a $7.5 million payout this year and recently moved to Miami with her two children.
