Occupied Jerusalem- The released Jerusalem prisoner Omar Maatouq told Tel Aviv Tribune Net that Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons have not seen the sun since October 7.
Maatouq spent 6 and a half years in Israeli prisons and was released late Thursday evening with restrictions and on the condition that he be removed from the city of Jerusalem.
He added that he was taken from the prison door immediately after his release and handed over to Israeli intelligence, which informed him of the decision to deport him and summoned his father to inform him of those conditions and the consequences of violating them.
Maatouq continued: “After October 7, the achievements of the prisoner movement and everything inside the rooms, even personal needs, were withdrawn.”
He pointed out that despite talk of stopping torture after the martyrdom of prisoner Ahmed Abu Assab (November 19), “the beatings continue.”
He revealed that prisoners have been prevented from going out to the prison yard since October 7.
Maatouq added: “The prisoner is supposed to go out for at least half an hour or 20 minutes a day, but all prisoners since October 7 have been deprived of it, and diseases may spread due to the lack of sunlight and the spread of fungi.” Calling for “to stand firmly in front of this thing and move the street.”
According to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club, the occupation has arrested about 5,810 Palestinian men and women since October 7, indicating overcrowding and harsh detention conditions in various prisons.
