The Ansar Allah group (Houthis) said that an American-British raid targeted the Hodeidah Governorate in western Yemen on Thursday, confirming that its members had targeted 153 ships linked to Israel, the United States and Britain, since the start of “Gaza support operations” last November.

The group’s leader, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, also said that it carried out 10 operations with ballistic missiles, drones, and boats targeting 8 ships within a week.

He confirmed that a second ship was about to sink in the Gulf of Aden, after the group published a video clip yesterday, Wednesday, showing the targeting and sinking of the cargo transport ship Twitter with two drone boats.

The British Navy confirmed – in a statement – the sinking of the ship “Twitter”, noting that “it was targeted by a Houthi drone on June 12 of this year.”

A raid in Hodeidah

The Houthis’ Al-Masirah satellite channel reported on Thursday – in brief breaking news – that “the American-British aggression targeted the Al-Salif district in Hodeidah Governorate with a raid.”

The Houthi group announced yesterday, Wednesday, that the Al-Durayhimi District in Hodeidah was also subjected to 3 American-British raids.

Hodeidah, overlooking the Red Sea, is considered the governorate in Yemen most exposed to American and British raids, since the start of their operations in the country at the beginning of this year. It is one of the most important Yemeni governorates, as it contains an international airport, 3 vital ports, and has a long coastal strip and a number of islands.

Outcome of operations

On the other hand, the Houthis announced today that their forces have targeted 153 ships linked to Israel, the United States, and Britain, since the start of operations in support of Gaza last November.

Abdul-Malik Al-Houthi said – in a televised speech broadcast on Al-Masirah TV – “Our people and forces were keen to continue support operations for Gaza, even on the day of Eid Al-Adha (which began on Sunday).”

He added, “The total number of targeted ships linked to the Israeli, American, and British enemy reached 153 ships. The most prominent operations this week were targeting the American aircraft carrier Eisenhower in the northern Red Sea with missiles, and pursuing it.”

He stressed that “one of the most prominent developments was the sinking of the ship “Twitter” after a qualitative operation by our naval forces,” revealing that members of the Houthi naval forces “were able to board the ship, booby-trapped it and blew it up after it was hit by a military boat.”

Solidarity with Gaza

It should be noted that the Houthis have been targeting with missiles and drones since last November cargo ships linked to Israel in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean, as part of their solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to an Israeli war with American support for the eighth month in a row.

In response to the group’s attacks, a US-led coalition has launched raids since the beginning of this year that it says target “Houthi sites” in various regions of Yemen.

With the intervention of Washington and London, the Houthi group announced last January that it now considered all American and British ships among its military targets, and required stopping its attacks as an end to the war on Gaza.
