The government media office in Gaza announced on Monday the martyrdom of journalist Haneen Al-Qashtan as a result of the Israeli bombing of the Strip, bringing the total number of journalists martyred since October 7 to 95.

The statement indicated that journalist Haneen Al-Qashtan died as a result of the Israeli bombing that targeted her family’s home in the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.

Haneen Al-Qashtan is a Palestinian journalist who was born in Gaza City on September 23, 1990. She previously worked as a programmer on Al-Kufiya Channel, as well as a program presenter on Baladna Channel. She also held the position of editor on the “Affairs of the Country” website in the past.

Before her death, Al-Qashtan struggled with illness and was able to overcome it, but she passed away from our world as a result of the devastating war on the Gaza Strip.

In a previous statement, the media office stated that the occupation deliberately aims to kill journalists with the aim of distorting the Palestinian narrative, trying to hide the facts, and obstructing the delivery of news and information to regional and international public opinion.

For its part, the International Federation of Journalists expressed its condemnation of the killing of journalists in Gaza, calling for the need to protect them from the violence of the occupation so that they can perform their work.

Since last October 7, the Israeli army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, which, as of December 15, has resulted in the death of 18,800 Palestinians and the injury of 51,000, most of whom are children and women. The war also caused massive destruction of infrastructure and created a “humanitarian catastrophe.” “Unprecedented,” according to Palestinian and international reports.

This war came in response to the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation launched by the Hamas movement on October 7th against the Israeli settlements and military bases in the Gaza Strip due to the daily escalation by Israel and its targeting of the Palestinian people and their sanctities.
