A new massacre in the bombing of a school sheltering displaced people, and UNRWA mourns 6 of its employees | News

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said that six of its employees were killed in two airstrikes on Al-Jaouni School in the Nuseirat camp in the central Gaza Strip on Wednesday, while Israeli shelling continued on several areas in the Strip, leaving martyrs and wounded.

UNRWA added on its website, “This is the highest number of deaths among our staff in a single incident. Among the dead were the director of the UNRWA shelter and others who were providing assistance to the displaced.”

UNRWA added, “This school has been bombed 5 times since the beginning of the war. It shelters about 12,000 displaced people, most of them women and children.”

For his part, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the lack of accountability for the killing of UN staff and humanitarian aid workers in Gaza was “totally unacceptable.”

Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, confirmed that the location of the Al-Jaouni School had been coordinated in advance with the Israeli army.

The Israeli occupation army said in a statement earlier on Wednesday that it had carried out a strike on a command and control center in Nuseirat in central Gaza, and claimed that the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) was running it.

On Wednesday, 18 Palestinians, including UNRWA employees, were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the UN agency’s Al-Jaouni School, according to data announced by the government media office in Gaza.

For its part, Agence France-Presse quoted a medical source at Al-Awda Hospital as saying that the raid also resulted in the injury of 44 people.

Martyrs in continuous raids

A short while ago, Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported that two Palestinians were killed and others were injured after the occupation forces bombed a residential apartment in the Al-Fakhoura area in the Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip.

Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent also reported that 4 people were killed and others were injured in an Israeli raid on the Al-Daraj neighbourhood east of Gaza City.

Medical sources told Tel Aviv Tribune that 39 Palestinians were killed in ongoing Israeli raids on the central and southern Gaza Strip since dawn on Wednesday.

Over the past months, Israel has targeted many schools housing displaced persons, committing massacres against civilians inside, especially women and children.

Since the beginning of the Israeli war on Gaza, the Palestinians have been facing repeated displacement, as the Israeli army orders residents of residential areas and neighborhoods to evacuate them in preparation for bombing, destroying, and penetrating them.

During their displacement, Palestinians are forced to seek refuge in schools or the homes of their relatives or acquaintances. Some set up tents in the streets, schools, or other places such as prisons and amusement parks, under difficult humanitarian conditions where there is no sufficient water or food, and diseases spread.

With full American support, Israel has been waging a devastating war in Gaza since October 7, leaving more than 136,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amidst massive destruction and deadly famine.

In contempt of the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
