A member of the Supreme Political Council of the Ansar Allah Houthi group, Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi, sparked widespread interaction on social media platforms, after he rebuked a BBC broadcaster who questioned the feasibility of the group targeting Israeli ships in the Red Sea.

In response to a question by the broadcaster about what the Houthis achieved by targeting Israeli interests, describing those attacks as “noise without flour” and did not cause any harm to Israel, Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi said, “Then why does America call for an international coalition against us as long as those attacks did not achieve anything?” .

The Houthi official asked, “What information are you relying on when you say that Israel has not suffered any harm and that the occupied ports in Palestine have been completely paralyzed? You are the one who is making fools of yourself with your baseless questions.”

In response to another question about the Houthis’ relationship with the war launched by Israel on the Gaza Strip, while they are miles away from what is happening, the Houthi official said sarcastically, “So Biden and Netanyahu live in one apartment? And the French president lives on the same floor? And the British Prime Minister lives in the same building? Or Are there thousands of miles between them and Israel?

Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi accused the British Broadcasting Station of being biased towards Israel, and responded sarcastically to a comment by the broadcaster in which she said that her station was committed to neutrality in its coverage of the war, saying, “You know that you cannot stand by the Palestinian cause, and you cannot speak freely about the Palestinian side, because the orientation you have in Britain Known, everyone who speaks, stands, or supports the Palestinian side will be removed from office, meaning you may lose your job.”

Activists on social media circulated the interview widely, and praised the strength of the Houthi official’s responses. He said in a blog post by Dr. Hisham Al-Saleh on his account on the

While another blogger, Fadl Al-Mutawakkil, described Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi’s responses as “violent bombardment.”

The Houthis had intensified their attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea in protest against the Israeli war in Gaza.

Various shipping companies halted their operations in the Red Sea, shifting them instead to the Cape of Good Hope route around Africa.

America had announced the formation of a multinational coalition in which several countries would participate through joint patrols in the southern Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, as part of what was called Operation “Guardian of Prosperity” to confront the threats facing maritime transport ships.

The Houthis have pledged to continue attacks until Israel stops its aggression against the Gaza Strip, and have warned that they will attack American warships if the group itself is targeted.
