A freed Gazan prisoner tells his tragedy in the occupation prisons | News

Freed Palestinian prisoner Khamis Abu al-Rish speaks with great difficulty about his suffering due to the severe pain that runs through his body, as he lies on a bed in Kamal Adwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip, while his eyes tear up as he recalls the severe torture he was subjected to in the prisons of the Israeli occupation.

Abu Al-Rish’s suffering did not end with his release from prison, as the torture he was subjected to in Israeli prisons left serious effects on his physical and psychological health.

Israel released Abu al-Rish on Saturday, via the Beit Hanoun crossing in the northern Gaza Strip, and he was immediately transferred to the hospital for medical examinations and treatment.

The words that the prisoner was able to utter while he was in the hospital were very limited. He did not say more than, amidst his tears that were flowing profusely, “They tortured me. I want my mother. Take me to her. My body is wounded. God is sufficient for me, and He is the best Disposer of affairs. I will die.” This was due to the pain he was suffering from as a result of the torture.

At the Beit Hanoun crossing near the northern border of the Strip, the Israeli army threw the prisoner while he was wearing a white robe and suffering from severe bruises and pain, according to eyewitnesses.

Witnesses said that Abu Al-Rish reached an area far from the border, and was later transferred to the hospital by ambulance.

No further information was available about his place of arrest or the date of his detention.

The released prisoner appears to have lived through difficult conditions during his detention, as he was subjected to torture, according to what he reported.

During the past months, the Israeli occupation army released dozens of detainees from Gaza in separate batches, most of whom were in difficult physical and psychological health conditions.

Since its ground invasion of the Gaza Strip on October 27, the Israeli occupation army has arrested large numbers of Palestinians, the number of whom is still unknown, as there are no statistics available in this regard.

Human rights organizations and Israeli media reported that dozens of them were killed as a result of torture and miserable detention conditions inside Israeli occupation prisons.
