“A death trip”: the Palestinians describe the bustle of the GHF help site in Gaza | News Israel-Palestine Conflict

Famine is spread through the Gaza Strip, and the only organization on the ground has forced food aid accused of violations of serious rights and the targeting of civilians.

The controversial GHF in the United States and Israel took charge of the distribution of aid to Gaza in May, after Israel released its total blockade of the band.

Since then, said the United Nations, more than 1,300 Palestinians have been killed while trying to reach food.

Many have been deliberately slaughtered by Israeli soldiers or US security entrepreneurs hired by GHF, according to testimonies from whistleblowers published in the media.

However, in despair of obtaining the food they can to ensure survival, thousands of Palestinians brave GHF sites every day.

Tel Aviv Tribune spoke to mothers, fathers and children who said they had seen soldiers open fire to help seekers in the middle of chaotic scenes while hungry people rushed for flour and milk.

“What can I do?”

The struggle to try to get food from a distribution point managed by GHF in Gaza is “a death trip,” said a Palestinian woman, whom we do not name for her safety.

“I have to support my daughters,” said the woman, a mother of two children. “I have no one to support myself.”

In her despair, she visits the help sites.

There, the aid recovery process is a violent rush where only those who dare to push deep into the crowd come back with anything, she said.

“There are children who worked hard to get (help), and men come to take them.”

After putting herself in danger, the woman left the help site with only rice, cooking oil and a box of tomatoes, she said.

However, “it is a blessing from God,” she added, despite his arm after being struck in the crowd.

A child who was addressed to Tel Aviv Tribune told how to go to a GHF site was his only option.

“I’m going to take food for my brothers and sisters. My father was martyred. If I was not going to bring it, my brothers and sisters would die from hunger. What can I do? ” He asked.

But on the distribution site, he said that he had seen hundreds of hungry Palestinians slaughtered.

‘Tir, kill, dead’

A Palestinian, Ibrahim Mekki, of the Nuseirat refugee camp in the center of Gaza, said that he was waiting at least six hours and was likely to be killed by Israeli forces just to end up with a few bags of pasta.

“Shooting, killing, dead, destruction and martyrs,” he said about the scene. “And for what?” Just to get a little food.

“It’s a trap, a game … letting you move a little, then open fire.”

Mekki said that a “huge” number of people had gathered on the help site he had gone, but he said that only 5% managed to recover anything.

“Look at me, what did I get? Nothing,” he said, revealing two small bags of pasta and a bag of bulgur.

“It is not enough to feed the children for a single day. I have to return every day to try again.”

‘He died in my arms’

Another man, Rakan Jneid, told Tel Aviv Tribune that he had seen people rushing to aid trucks near a distribution point – and some of them were crushed.

“Today, milk has entered and people started fighting to take milk,” said Jneid. “The Israelis opened fire to take advantage of the situation.”

Another Palestinian, Muhannad Abu Jarad, also described when he saw the Israeli army “shoot us”.

In addition, a mother of eight children told Tel Aviv Tribune that her five -month -old daughter was badly nourished because she did not receive enough food during pregnancy.

She had already lost her fourth child because of malnutrition, she said.

“My fourth child died … He was seriously badly nourished. “He died in my arms while I took him to the hospital.”
