The name of Egyptian actress Elham Shaheen topped the social media platforms following her recent statements on the Palestinian issue, where she stressed the necessity of finding a political solution to end the ongoing crisis in the Arab region, specifically in Palestine.
While being honored at the seventh session of the Cairo Days International Monodrama Festival, Shaheen stressed the importance of establishing a Palestinian state alongside the State of Israel, noting the need for reasonable leaders in the world to intervene to pressure Benjamin Netanyahu to find a just solution. She described the Israeli Prime Minister as practicing arrogance and arrogance because his country possesses advanced weapons.
Elham Shaheen said in her speech during the ceremony, “Peace will not be achieved in the Arab world except with the establishment of a Palestinian state, and the conflict will not end unless justice is achieved for the Palestinian people.”
She indicated that she could not feel the joy of honoring her because of the wars, destruction and devastation that is happening, and she continued, “Our hearts are with Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Iraq and Sudan. The Arab region is on a hot plate, and our hearts are in pain, and I myself (hope) to convey our voice to the world that the Arab peoples are calling for peace and we are not “Peoples of war.”
Shaheen commented on the criticism she faced during the past hours on social media platforms, and said in statements to local Egyptian websites that her talk about the existence of two states was with the aim of achieving a gain, which is global recognition of the State of Palestine, and then comes finding a solution to end the occupation.
The Egyptian actress continued that during the honoring, she spoke about her sympathy for the Palestinian people, and that the solution is to have two states to recognize Palestine, which is the most important, and then the exit of the 7 million Israelis currently in Palestine is being considered.
She pointed out that the statements were distorted even though she spoke with good intentions, but she was accustomed to people attacking her all the time after any statement she made, whether she was right or wrong.
