Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), said the past 100 days have been like 100 years for the people of Gaza.

Lazzarini pointed out – in a statement yesterday, Saturday – coinciding with the 100th day since the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip that the Palestinians were subjected to the largest displacement since 1948 due to the bombing, and added that “1.4 million people took refuge in UNRWA shelters and were forced to live in inhumane conditions.”

He pointed out that during the past 100 days, Gaza witnessed “the enormity of death, destruction, displacement, hunger, loss, and grief in the past 100 days that stains our shared humanity.”

He considered that “the last 100 days are like 100 years for the residents of Gaza,” and said that most Gazans will carry the physical and psychological wounds resulting from the attacks for life.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation army has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that, as of Saturday, left more than 23,000 martyrs and about 60,000 injured, most of them children and women, massive destruction of infrastructure and an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, according to the Strip authorities. And the United Nations.
