Thousands of people attended the funeral of Saleh al-Arouri, killed in a strike attributed to Israel, which continues its bombings in Gaza.
Some of them equipped with Palestinian flags and Hamas flags, there were thousands this Thursday in the Lebanese capital, to attend the funeral of Saleh al-Arouri. The senior Hamas official and six other people were killed Tuesday in Beirut in a strike attributed to the Israeli army.
The IDF, which did not claim responsibility for this strike, however released images of its bombings in southern Lebanon, where clashes have pitted it against Hezbollah fighters for several months. In a speech broadcast on television on Wednesday, movement leader Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel against war with Lebanon. A situation which revives fears of a regional escalation of the conflict.
In the Gaza Strip also the IDF continues its military operations and focuses mainly on the center of the Palestinian territory. Particularly in Khan Younes, where the Red Crescent claims that its headquarters is the target of bombings. Several people were injured according to the humanitarian organization.
In total, in almost three months of conflict, Israeli strikes have left more than 22,300 dead, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health. The number of injured is also very high, more than 57,000 people, while the majority of hospitals in the Gaza Strip are no longer functioning.
While Gazans lack water and food, the UN warns of an ongoing humanitarian disaster. Residents continue to flee south to escape the bombings. In total, 85% of the residents of the Gaza Strip have been displaced since the start of Israel’s military operation.
