Vladimir Putin’s number one opponent was previously detained in a prison in the Moscow region.

Swe transfer took place in the greatest secrecy, he says today he is “fine”.

Kira Iarmych, spokesperson for Alexei Navalny: “There, the prison authorities do not manage emails or telephone calls, it is practically impossible to contact a detainee directly, which indicates that they deliberately sent him in this particular prison to isolate Alexei as much as possible and not give him any chance to communicate with the outside world.”

The Kharp penal colony is located beyond the Arctic Circle, much closer to the North Pole than to the Kremlin.

Alexei Navalny disappeared in early December.

He said he arrived in Kharp on Saturday evening after a “complicated itinerary” trip.

Navalny’s spokeswoman says he remains “Vladimir Putin’s main adversary” and his resistance “motivates others to resist.”

Alexei Navalny is 47 years old, serving a 19-year prison sentence for “extremism”.
