In Mexico, six thousand South American migrants are walking towards the United States at a time when American authorities are recording an outbreak of illegal entries into their territory.
It is the largest caravan of migrants in more than a year.
Around six thousand South American nationals have crossed Mexico’s southern border from Guatemala.
The caravan is heading towards the United States and the migrants speak of an “exodus from poverty”.
The Mexican border crossing takes place a few days before US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s visit to Mexico.
In December, American authorities detained up to 10,000 migrants every day at the border between Texas and Mexico.
