The Investment Promotion and Industrial Estates Authority said on Thursday that the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip destroyed dozens of factories in Gaza Industrial City, completely or partially, and the project to generate electrical energy from solar energy lost between 40% and 50% of its production capacity due to the aggression.
She added – in a statement reached Tel Aviv Tribune Net – that the continuous Israeli bombing since last October 7 has caused the destruction of the administrative building of the authority, as well as the civil defense building located inside the city, in addition to the outbreak of large fires that included many industrial facilities inside it, especially those Which contain chemicals and highly flammable materials, as the fires affected establishments operating in the cleaning, food products, beverages, plastics, furniture and cosmetics sectors.
The city provides more than 6,400 daily jobs, directly or indirectly, and extends over a total area of 480 dunums to the east of Gaza City.
The authority added that the occupation deliberately destroyed the industrial city, which is the backbone of the largest industry in Gaza City, especially since it plays a strategic role in production, employment and investment.
Destruction methodology
The Commission explained that the destruction comes within the framework of the destruction methodology launched by the Israeli war machine towards the Gaza Strip, targeting all manifestations and components of survival and life in the Strip, which is subjected to a genocidal war.
The Investment Promotion and Industrial Cities Authority indicated that this assessment is preliminary, and that the difficulty of the field situation prevents a full assessment of the damages and losses.
She indicated that “Gaza Industrial City” is one of the largest industrial cities implemented by the government through the Investment Promotion Authority and the Palestinian Industrial Estates, as it includes 72 factories in various industrial sectors, including sewing, weaving, food industries, beverage and juice industries, plastic and wood industries, pharmaceutical industries, and detergents, in addition to commercial companies.
