Thousands of Israelis demonstrated, on Saturday night/Sunday, while the “kidnapped square” is called in Tel Aviv, to demand the return of Israeli prisoners from the Gaza Strip, even if it was at the expense of stopping the war of genocide.

This demonstration comes after the return of the negotiating Israeli delegation from Qatar, last Thursday, after Hamas responded to the proposal related to the prisoner exchange and ceasefire deal, and the “negative” Israeli -American positions towards it.

The private newspaper “Yediot Aharonot” said that the families of the prisoners in Gaza participated in a demonstration that started from the “kidnapped square” towards the headquarters of the United States embassy in Tel Aviv.

She explained that the demonstrators called on US President Donald Trump to pressure Netanyahu to conclude a deal to restore the remaining 50 remaining prisoners in Gaza, alive and dead.

“If the prisoners are not returned, then this will be an absolute defeat, not only for the state, but for the society whose values have forgotten,” said a relative of the detained prisoner, at a press conference during the demonstration.

Last Thursday, the Israeli delegation left Doha, after receiving the response from Hamas.

Official sources in Tel Aviv claimed that Hamas’s response was “negative”, and said that “the negotiations are continuing, but the gaps are large and require difficult decisions.”

Mystery and anticipation of negotiations

The mystery still surrounds the fate of the negotiations, after Israel and the American presidential envoy to the Middle East, Stephen Witkev, the withdrawal of their municipal teams to consult from Doha, in addition to accusations from Washington and Tel Aviv Hamas of “unwillingness” to reach a deal, which the movement denied and confirmed its commitment to “completing the negotiations.”

On Friday, Netanyahu said that Israel is studying with the United States “alternatives” to return the prisoners in the Gaza Strip and end Hamas rule, after Lukkov’s statement also Thursday, in which he said: “We will now study alternative options to return the hostages.”

Netanyahu did not reveal the nature of the alternatives he is talking about, while the Israeli opposition and the families of the prisoners say that the only way to return the prisoners is an agreement with Hamas.

Aid issue

On Friday, 6 members of the American Congress called, in a joint statement, the Trump administration to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and return the prisoners at the earliest time, and described the humanitarian situation as “horrific and unacceptable.”

The statement also called for pressure on Netanyahu to radically reform or to close the so -called “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation”, and to resume supporting the mechanisms of coordination of aid led by the United Nations in Gaza, while strengthening censorship to ensure aid reaching the needy civilians.

Away from the supervision of the United Nations and international relief organizations, Tel Aviv has begun last May 27, to implement a aid distribution plan through what is known as the “Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation”, an Israeli and American backed authority, but it is normally rejected by nations and Palestinian.

At a daily pace, the Israeli army shoots the Palestinians lined up near the distribution centers to obtain aid, which left them between death or shot, according to the government media office in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has launched a war of genocide in Gaza that includes killing, starvation, destruction and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders for the International Court of Justice to stop it.

The genocide, with American support, left more than 204 thousand Palestinians between a martyr and a wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 9,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced people and the famine that have been exhausted.
