Malnutritions between children in the Gaza Strip have reached levels whose health repercussions will continue to them even if the world is able to save their lives by entering food, drink and infant formula.
The Children’s Hospital in Nasser Medical Complex, in the southern Gaza Strip, is filled with dozens of children who face death due to malnutrition and the absence of artificial milk, which is the only food for those under 6 months.
With the increasing cases, the organizers of the place were forced to hypnotize children in the corridors and butchers, while there are thousands abroad that they do not find what prevents them from death, says the director of the hospital, Dr. Ahmed Al -Farra.
The absence of infant formula of the first and second types is a dilemma for those under 6 months, as there is no single box of milk in the sector, and it is often expired and its price reaches 150 dollars, according to what Al -Farra confirmed in an interview with the island.
A general feeling of frustration
The Nasser Complex is trying to save what can be saved from the children who have reached it through the very few quantities of milk provided by donors and international organizations, while families abroad are looking for other alternatives such as water, anise and chamomile.
All doctors – including foreigners who have recently arrived to inspect the situation – feel very frustrated by the deteriorating conditions of children who have symptoms that are no longer present in the modern era, such as hair loss, fluid gathering and body atrophy.
Even if the world is able to save these people, Israel will have ruled a whole generation of Palestinians with a chronic lack of memory, intelligence and weight, because the child’s nervous system is formed during the first three years of his life, as Al -Farra says.
The construction of the nervous system requires the child to obtain many basic elements such as magnesium, folic acid and vitamins “B”, “C” and “D”, all of which are no longer available to the children of the sector, which causes their members to gradually stop working.
Children in Gaza do not die due to chronic diseases as Israel is common, because everyone who has died during the past days and those who face death now does not suffer from any diseases other than severe malnutrition, according to Al -Farra.
In the Nasser complex, the 11 -year -old girl, Sila Barkak, who weighs 3.5 kilograms, while her normal weight is assumed to be at least 10 kilograms, and this child does not suffer any other disease.
Israel prevented the entry of infant formula since last March, prompting one of the families to feed the infant of some cans, which led to urgent surgery to save him from suffocation.
Hospital workers no longer find what they eat after the international cuisine apologized for providing food for them two weeks ago, which means that Israel is using “the dirtiest weapons of history, starvation” during this war, says Al -Farra.
The Nasser Complex treats about 30 children who have reached the stage of severe malnutrition, while 600,000 children are facing death, including 60,000 under 6 months.
Surprising reports
Children cannot tolerate the absence of food because their bodies are free of muscles, and therefore the organs of the body begin to gradually stop working after 6 hours of the absence of food, and when the condition exacerbates the treatment requires specific protocols that are not available in sector hospitals that do not even have nutritional supplements.
Commenting on this situation, the International Salvation Committee announced today, Thursday, that it was dismayed from reports that talk about the death of children in Gaza, and said that the siege is the reason for this.
Oxfam also said that diseases are spreading in Gaza, while Israel continues to prevent food and drink from people, stressing that the diseases transmitted through water in the Strip increased by 150%.
The Ministry of Health in Gaza announced the registration of 10 deaths due to malnutrition within 24 hours, bringing the number to 111 children, while the Government Information Office spoke of 115 deaths due to the depletion of food and water.
In turn, the director of the World Health Organization, Tedros Guipressos, said that the sector is living in fatal levels of malnutrition, a day after the Secretary -General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, confirmed that what is currently going on is unparalleled in the modern era, and that famine has become every door in Gaza.
