On Thursday, most members of the UN Security Council demanded that Israel should stop its attacks on Syria, during an emergency session of the Council called by Damascus, amid American support for the stability of the country.
During the session, the members expressed their concern about the current events in Sweida in southern Syria, stressing the need to preserve the unity, safety and sovereignty of the country.
Khaled Khakari – Assistant Secretary -General for Middle East and Asia and the Pacific – said that the actions of Israel are undermining new building efforts, reconciling with itself and the region.
For his part, Turkey’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Ahmed Yildiz, stated that Israel’s continuous aggression against Syria is undermining its efforts to reconstruction, saying that “Israel’s military interventions and provocative statements threaten the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
In his speech, Russia’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nippinesia, condemned the Israeli attacks on Syria, stressing that Moscow is constantly supporting Syria’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity.
The United Nations Deputy Representative to the United Nations, Ging Xuang, also criticized the Israeli raids on Syria, calling on Israel to stop it immediately, and withdraw from the Syrian territories, including the Golan, as soon as possible.
American support
For its part, Dorothy Saya – the list of the US Permanent Representative to the Security Council – confirmed that the United States has not supported the recent Israeli strikes on Damascus.
She added that the United States is involved in a diplomat with Israel and Syria at the highest levels to deal with the current crisis, and to reach a permanent agreement between two countries with sovereignty, as it expressed.
She noted that US President Donald Trump put his clear vision for a prosperous Middle East and stable Syria, reconciling with itself and its neighbors.

In Washington, White House spokeswoman Caroline Levitt said Trump still supports Syria in its path towards peace and stability.
During a press conference, Levitte indicated that her country was able to calm the situation and reduce the escalation, and she continues to monitor the situation closely.
Last Sunday, bloody confrontations broke out between Bedouin and Druze outskirts in the province of As -Suwayda, in southern Syria, after which forces of the army and security intervened to restore stability to the province.
Under the pretext of “Protecting the Druze”, Israel took advantage of these conditions, as it made its aggression against Syria, including extensive raids on 4 governorates, which included the bombing of the headquarters of the Staff and the Oce of the Presidential Palace in Damascus.
On Thursday, government forces withdrew from As -Suwayda, after the announcement of an agreement to do so, but violence escalated yesterday in the province between Bedouin and Druze parties.
