The escalation of resistance operations in the city of Khan Yunis (southern Gaza Strip), especially in the eastern region, raised questions about the causes and factors that helped the resistance to carry out quality operations and ambushes.
In this context, military expert Hatem Karim Al -Falahi says that Khan Yunis is one of the largest governorates of the Gaza Strip, which is of a large geographical area, and the Israeli occupation army believes that it is a geopolitical position for the resistance factions in terms of military capabilities and capabilities.
According to Al -Falahi, the “Gideon vehicles” operation – launched by the occupation army in mid -May – is based on two main regions in the Gaza Strip, the north and Khan Yunis region in the south.
But the resistance operations focused in recent weeks on the eastern axis of Khan Yunis, and they were specifically repeated in the Great Abasan region for several reasons:
- The nature of the geographical area of the Great Abasan is greatly suitable for setting ambushes.
- Defensive resistance in this region is different from the rest of the other regions.
- There is an impression that the resistance is able to carry out operations in the region without stopping it Israeli.
Absan Al -Kabir is a Palestinian village located to the east of Khan Yunis, and some historians link its residents to the “Abs tribe”, which was spread in the Arabian Peninsula before Islam, and its population in 2023 reached about 31.5 thousand people.
Abasan – which has an area of about 16 thousand dunums (dunim equals a thousand square meters) – was exposed to all wars launched by Israel on the Strip for wide destruction operations, through air and artillery shelling, as well as wild incursions.
The military expert explained that the resistance factions in the guerrilla warfare are not located in a specific area, but in small military groups.
These small groups are transferred from one region to another according to the possibility, ability and geographical location – according to Al -Falahi – although the occupation army presses Khan Yunis and advances from the east, north and south.
The Al -Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad movement, announced on Monday the destruction of the Merkava tank and an Israeli “D9” bulldozer east of Khan Yunis, and said that the destruction of Merkava came in conjunction with the Al -Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
Likewise, the military wing of Islamic jihad announced the rhythm of its fighters, an Israeli force, who is in a tight ambush inside a house where it was immunized, east of Khan Yunis on June 28.
Al -Saraya explained that the house was booby -trapped with anti -personnel and fortifications, while the rescue forces rushed to the place before clashing with them with machine guns and RPG shells.
In light of these developments, Israeli helicopters interfere with a fiery and smoke intensity “to save the remaining soldiers from its soldiers,” according to the companies.
Last Sunday, Israeli Army Radio stated that 30 officers and soldiers were killed in the Gaza Strip – including 21 with explosive devices – since Israel resumed the war on March 18.
In the same context, the Haaretz newspaper reported that 20 Israeli soldiers were killed in the Strip during the month of June.
