Israel is heading about a decisive week regarding the war of extermination committed by its army in the Gaza Strip, amid the escalation of political and military statements that reflect the complexity of the scene and the variation of positions on the future of the war.
The Israeli Channel 12 confirmed that the army will be shown in the next Sunday session before the mini -ministerial council alternatives and multiple options on Gaza, including completing the occupation of the Strip or reaching a deal, noting that the Chief of Staff will inform the council that the army is close to achieving its goals in Gaza.
In the same context, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted Israeli officials, familiar with their surprise at the optimism of US President Donald Trump about the possibility of a ceasefire in Gaza during the next week, stressing that Israel has not been informed of any change or progress that justifies this optimism, and there are no indications of flexibility in the position of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) or Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the end of the war.
The newspaper added, quoting Israeli officials, that one of the estimates indicates that Trump’s optimism may be an attempt to invest political momentum after the war with Iran ended to achieve an additional political achievement. Although they confirmed the existence of intense communications and conversations in the scenes, they denied the existence of tangible results or real penetration so far.
In a remarkable political position, the Israeli Finance Minister of Salamel Smotrich preceded the end of the war by emphasizing that the Netanyahu government will never agree to “divide the country or hand over the enemy lands” as he put it, describing the idea of establishing a Palestinian state as “terrorist” and threatening the existence and future of Israel, according to him.
Smotrich added that he is confident that Netanyahu – wanted for the International Criminal for the charge of war crimes in Gaza – and Trump “will liberate the Middle East”, which he described as “his dependence on the Palestinian issue”, considering that it is “ridiculous” that the government must pay the price of peace agreements to give up lands to establish a “Palestinian terrorist state.”
On Saturday, Israeli sources reported progress in the ceasefire negotiations and the release of Israeli detainees in the Gaza Strip, in light of an expected visit to the Israeli Minister of Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer to Washington.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation, quoting sources, said that despite the progress made, this did not reach the stage of sending a negotiation delegation, noting that the main dispute revolves around the conditions of ending the war and guarantees demanded by Hamas.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz also quoted a White House official yesterday that the Americans would inform Dermer of the necessity of ending the war and saving the neighborhood prisoners, and that Hamas could be dismantled later, and according to the US official, Washington is optimistic about ending the war and release the Israeli prisoners, but it has not yet been clear to pressure on Israel.
