Former Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa warned of the danger of the ongoing war between Israel and Iran, proposing to invite the Egyptian National Security Council to convene.
In a tweet published yesterday, Tuesday, on an expense on X, the former Secretary -General of the League of Arab States said, “The ongoing war between Israel and Iran and the districts of direct intervention of the great countries or some of them are raising serious threats to regional security in the Middle East affected by its countries and societies,” adding that “Egypt and the Egyptian people are not far from that.”
Moussa referred to Article 205 of the Egyptian constitution that established the National Security Council, proposing his call for a speedy convening, “especially since he is at the top of his responsibilities to face crises of all kinds that threaten the security of the country, take what is necessary to contain it, and identify sources of dangers that threaten Egyptian national security at home and abroad and the necessary measures to address them.”
It is noteworthy that Moussa previously held the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs during the period from 1991 to 2001, which witnessed his choice as Secretary -General of the Arab League until 2011, and also nominated in the Egyptian presidential elections in 2012.
Several Egyptian media have taken care of Moussa’s statements, and said that it comes at a time when the Middle East is witnessing a dangerous escalation in the confrontations between Iran and Israel, and international warnings of the possibility of a large -scale regional confrontation.
The Egyptian media also indicated that these statements coincide with reports of American and Western military moves in the Mediterranean and the Arabian Gulf, which restores dangerous scenarios that may affect the stability of the entire region.
