A scheduled for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe confirmed on Friday that what is happening in the Gaza Strip “may rise to the level of ethnic cleansing and genocide”, and described “the massacre that is currently taking place as” a “huge tragedy”.
Saskia Claits, a rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, spoke about “the urgent need to end the humanitarian crisis related to women, children and hostages in Gaza,” stressing that it is “a huge tragedy in which man and all humanity causes, because we left it running in the sight of us without interfering.”
Clantouette talked about a “complete blockade” linked to preventing the entry of “basic humanitarian supplies since the second of March”, and the detainees of the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip “in an area that is constantly shrinking”, and insecurity in the so -called “safe areas”.
“All this, in addition to the statements made by the members of the Israeli government regarding the residents of Gaza, makes it very difficult to ignore the fact that these measures may rise to the level of ethnic cleansing and genocide,” she said.
She stressed that “collective punishment and stripping Palestinians of the human nature must end immediately.”
The duty to say the truth
“It is clear that the Israeli government does not respect international humanitarian law, which provides for the provision of humanitarian aid without restrictions and obstacles, and in sufficient quantities to ensure the health of the population.”
Klotoit Israel urged “again to stop the killing of the people of Gaza immediately and fulfill their obligations in accordance with international law completely, and to give humanitarian organizations immediately the possibility of reaching independently and neutral and without obstacles” and “ensuring that adequate supplies from basic commodities in the Gaza Strip immediately.”
The prescribed also called for immediate retreat from “plans to expel Gaza residents from the Gaza Strip that would deprive the children of Gaza’s right to a future within their homeland.”
Clantoutet demanded that “the international community is currently fulfilling its duty by telling the truth and respecting its legal obligations under the Geneva Conventions, including the genocide agreement.”
“I invite the member states of the Council of Europe to do everything in their power to ensure a ceasefire and respect for international law,” she said.
The Council of Europe, which is the monitoring of rights and democracy on the continent, includes 46 member states.
