A new report revealed that companies in the United Kingdom have continued to export military articles to Israel despite government suspension in September of last year, in the midst of allegations according to which the British Parliament was deliberately “mislead”.

In September, Lammy announced the suspension of 29 arms export licenses, out of 350, which were used during the War of Israel against Gaza.
Lammy said the government had discovered that there had been a “clear risk” that licenses “could be used to commit or facilitate a serious violation of international humanitarian law”. He said that current licenses covered articles such as “glasses and helmets to be used by one of the UK allies”.
‘Parliament misled’
The report used data from the Israeli tax authority and concluded that Lammy had “induced” the Parliament and the public on arms exports to Israel.
Former Chancellor of the Shadow of Work John McDonnell said that the government had “to explain” in response to the report.
“If the Parliament has been misleading by the Minister of Foreign Affairs or any Minister, it is a resigning question and, more importantly, it potentially attracts an accusation of complicity in war crimes. The government has wrapped arms supplies in Israel in secret,” said McDonnell.
The former head of the Labor Party and independent deputy, Jeremy Corbyn, said that the report could explain why the government had not responded to a call for a public inquiry into the role of the United Kingdom in the military aggression of Israel.
“When will the British government be cleaned upon the reality of military cooperation with Israel? The public deserves to know the full scale of the complicity of the United Kingdom in crimes against humanity-and we are not going anywhere before having established the truth,” he said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs told Tel Aviv Tribune that the government had suspended “relevant licenses” which could be used to “commit or facilitate serious violations of international humanitarian law in Gaza”.
“Among the licenses remaining for Israel, the vast majority do not concern Israeli defense forces but are for civil or re -exported purposes, and are therefore not used in the war in Gaza. The only exemption is the F-35 program because of its strategic role in NATO and the broader implications for international peace and security, “said the ministry.
“Any suggestion that the United Kingdom authorized other weapons to use by Israel in the war in Gaza is misleading.”
“The United Kingdom is completely opposed to an expansion of Israeli military operations in Gaza. We urge all parties to urgently return to talks, to implement the cease-fire agreement in their entirety, to guarantee the release of the hostages taken by Hamas and to work towards permanent peace,” he added.
