On Saturday, the families of Israeli prisoners in Gaza called on the negotiating team that the Israeli government decided to send to the Qatari capital, Doha, “not to waste the available opportunity.”
The families of the prisoners said, addressing the negotiating team, “Come back bearing the good news of an agreement that guarantees the return of all the kidnapped.”
She also called on Israelis to demonstrate “in all of Israel tonight for one demand, which is the return of all the kidnapped,” stressing that the country “is facing a fateful week.”
It also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of refusing to “do the right thing” that would return the prisoners detained in the Gaza Strip and end the war.
She added, “We do not want to send our soldiers to Gaza to return more bodies of the kidnapped.”
It is noteworthy that Israeli sources reported earlier today that progress had been made in the indirect talks between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel aimed at reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, and Netanyahu also decided to send a delegation to Doha to participate in the negotiations.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper quoted sources it described as knowledgeable that 90% of the gaps in the prisoner and detainee exchange deal have already been filled.
The mediators are making new efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement, before US President-elect Donald Trump takes office on January 20.
Tel Aviv holds more than 10,300 Palestinians in its prisons, and while it estimates there are 99 Israeli prisoners in the Gaza Strip, Hamas announced that dozens of its prisoners were killed in random Israeli raids.
