The United Nations World Food Program said on Monday that Israeli forces opened fire on its convoy in Gaza yesterday, in an incident it described as “horrific.”

He added – in a statement – that the convoy – consisting of 3 vehicles – was transporting 8 employees from the center of the Strip to Gaza City, and received 16 bullets near the Wadi Gaza checkpoint, causing it to be disabled, but without any casualties.

The World Food Program stated that the convoy was clearly marked and had obtained prior security clearances from the Israeli authorities.

The program stressed that “this incident is unacceptable, and represents the latest example of the difficult and dangerous conditions in which the World Food Program and other agencies are currently working,” stressing the need to improve security conditions to ensure the continuation of relief operations.

It is noteworthy that international relief agencies, which are working to alleviate the severity of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, have repeatedly accused the Israeli forces of obstructing or threatening their operations during their ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023.
