Occupied Jerusalem- For the second year in a row, Christmas celebrations for Christian communities are absent in the occupied city of Jerusalem, and are limited to religious rituals.

The movement of Christian visitors and signs of joy were absent from the city’s streets and alleys, and instead sadness prevailed, in solidarity with the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to Israeli genocide for 15 months.

Tel Aviv Tribune Net takes you on a video tour inside the streets of Jerusalem to monitor its empty markets and stagnant commercial activity.

The midnight mass of December 24/25 is the climax of the Christmas celebration for Christian denominations that follow the Western calendar, while the celebrations of denominations that follow the Eastern calendar reach their climax tonight, January 6/7.

Since the start of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation has tightened its procedures in the city of Jerusalem, and at the checkpoints surrounding it, which contributed to limiting the entry of West Bank Christians into it.
