Israeli Channel 14 reported that Israel had issued a warning to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas that the “deadline” for the operation carried out by the Palestinian security services in the Jenin camp in the northern occupied West Bank was near.

According to what this channel reported, Israel’s message to Abbas is, “You have a short period to end the operation in Jenin, and then we will return to work in the northern West Bank.”

For the third week in a row, the security services of the Ramallah Authority continue a campaign in this camp targeting those they describe as outlaws, with the aim of “imposing security and ending security chaos,” while the Palestinian factions confirm that this campaign targets resistance fighters.

Yesterday, Sunday, the Palestinian security forces announced the killing of one of their members during clashes in the Jenin camp, bringing the death toll to 4 Palestinians, including a field commander in the Jenin battalion. While others were injured, including members of the security services.

The Jenin Brigade, affiliated with the Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement – sent a message to the Authority’s security services, calling on members of these services to “return to their senses” and warning against “testing their patience” with the clashes taking place in the camp.

It confirmed that it had information indicating that the authorities detained 237 of its soldiers because of their refusal to participate in the operation that the authority in Ramallah called “protecting the homeland.”

The Jenin Brigade added that since October 7 of last year, the Authority’s security services have killed 14 citizens outside the framework of the law, “without accountability or supervision.”

The Jenin Brigade stresses that the goal of this security campaign is to pursue the resistance fighters and disarm them, while the Authority’s security services say that they are pursuing those they described as “outlaws” to disarm them and extend control over the camp.

Israel expressed its “satisfaction” with this ongoing operation in Jenin, and Israeli media reported that the army is considering supplying PA security with military equipment “to confront the organizations and enhance intelligence cooperation.”

The events in Jenin began with the arrest of citizens Ibrahim Tubasi and Imad Abu Al-Haija early this month, which sparked the anger of the Jenin Brigade, which held two cars belonging to the Authority hostage to demand their release.

The Palestinian Authority rejected this demand and sent a clear message that its goal was to end the state of resistance and hand over weapons, which the resistance fighters rejected.

Events escalated with the authorities killing the young man, Ribhi Al-Shalabi, during its operations in Jenin, which included besieging Jenin Hospital and cutting off electricity and water to the camp. After that, clashes broke out, resulting in the killing of Yazid Jaaysa, a leader in the Jenin Brigade, along with a young man and a child from the camp’s residents, and injuries on both sides.

The martyr Jamil Al-Amouri, who was assassinated by Israel in 2021, is considered the founder and mastermind of the Jenin Brigade (French).

Clashes usually break out between resistance fighters and PA security personnel in the cities of the northern West Bank, especially Jenin and Tulkarm, coinciding with the ongoing invasions of the occupation forces, settler attacks, and Israeli genocide against the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip.

It is noteworthy that the Jenin Brigade, affiliated with the Jihad Movement, came into being following the martyrdom of its founder, Jamil Al-Amouri, on June 10, 2021. At that time, it became active in defending the city of Jenin against any intrusion by the occupation forces, and then its activities spread to other cities.
