Friedrich Merzleader of the CDU and head of the party list, promises to save 100 billion euros by radically reducing the welfare state and curbing Germany’s migration policies.

Friedrich Merz and CSU leader Markus Soeder pledged to prioritize Germany’s exit from recession and take a tougher stance on crime, as well as rolling back several policies of the Ample coalition, such as the legalization of cannabis and reforms relating to dual nationality.

Merz and Soeder sharply criticized the Greens and the Alternative for Germany and said the CDU would focus on implementing policies that were neither “left” nor “woke”.

According to the latest polls, the CDU is currently in the lead, with around 30% of voting intentions, and the most likely result of elections which will take place in a little over two months will be a coalition between the CDU and the Social Democrats. But a lot can change between now and then.
