Israeli historian Lee Mordechai said that he documented “a huge amount of evidence” proving that Israel committed genocide against the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

In his 124-page study, entitled “Testimony to the Israel-Gaza War,” Mordechai relied on thousands of references that support his assessment. Includes eyewitness reports, video footage, photographs, investigative materials, and articles.

Vali Mordechai (42 years old) is a former officer in the engineering corps of the Israeli occupation army, and is now a senior lecturer in history at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

Introducing himself in the introduction to his study, he said, “I, Mordechai, a professional historian and an Israeli citizen, bear witness in this document to the situation in Gaza as events developed, and the huge amount of evidence that I saw was sufficient for me to believe that Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinian population in Gaza.”

In response to the justifications that Israel is promoting regarding the war of annihilation, he said, “The Israeli response to the Hamas operation on October 7, 2023 is disproportionate and completely criminal.” Stressing that there is “sufficient evidence of indiscriminate and disproportionate attacks launched by Israel throughout the war, as well as many examples of massacres and other killings.”

Starvation

Mordechai says in his study, “Israel created famine in Gaza as an actual policy and used it as a weapon of war, which led to the death of dozens of civilians, most of them children, due to hunger.”

He added, “Israel has also caused shortages in water, medicine, and electricity. It has also dismantled the health system and civilian infrastructure in Gaza. As a result, more people are dying from treatable conditions and difficult medical procedures such as amputations and caesarean sections that are performed without anesthesia.”

He stressed in his study that the total deaths in Gaza are unknown, but are certainly much higher than the official death toll.

Attacking the racist Israeli rhetoric, Mordechai said, “Senior Israeli officials led the campaign to dehumanize the Palestinians, and the campaign is still supported by the government and the army. It works to dehumanize the Palestinians.”

Ethnic cleansing

Mordechai considers that the evidence he saw and discussed “indicates that one of Israel’s goals is to ethnically cleanse the Gaza Strip, whether partially or completely, by deporting the largest possible number of Palestinians.”

He said, “Key members of the Israeli government made statements confirming this intention, and many Israeli ministries also planned or worked to facilitate such an end, sometimes through persuasion or pressure on other countries.”

He added, “Israel has already cleared large parts of the Gaza Strip through demolition and bulldozing, and has also attempted to destroy the fabric of Palestinian society by deliberately targeting civilian institutions such as universities, libraries, archives, religious buildings, historical sites, farms, schools, cemeteries, museums, and markets.”
