Today, Tuesday, the extremist rabbi and member of the Knesset, Yehuda Glick, stormed the Dome of the Rock square in Al-Aqsa Mosque, while a Palestinian authority in Jerusalem announced that the occupation authorities had distributed dozens of demolition orders for homes and buildings in the Silwan neighborhood of the city.

Eyewitnesses told Tel Aviv Tribune Net that Glick crossed the usual path of settlers’ raids on Al-Aqsa Mosque and climbed into the square surrounding the Dome of the Rock. According to witnesses, Glick stopped at the Dome of Spirits, northwest of the Golden Dome, and provided Talmudic explanations to an American Jewish delegation accompanying him.

Settlers’ incursions into Al-Aqsa have been taking place on a regular basis since 2003, as they enter through the Mughrabi Gate in the western wall of the mosque, passing through the Al-Qibli prayer area towards the east of the mosque, then north, then they continue their incursion towards the west of the mosque, along the western portico towards Bab Al-Silsilah, without entering the courtyard of the Dome of the Rock or… Roofed chapels.

Today, 159 settlers participated in the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque, according to the Islamic Endowments Department.

In a separate matter, the “Islamic Christian Organization for the Support of Jerusalem and the Holy Sanctities” warned of an “accelerating Israeli plan aimed at demolishing dozens of homes in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in the town of Silwan.”

She added, in a statement, a copy of which was received by Tel Aviv Tribune Net, that “over the past two days, the occupation municipality crews distributed dozens of demolition orders to homes and facilities in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in the largest attack on the neighborhood in several years.”

She added that the new large-scale demolition orders were issued following the occupation authorities carrying out large-scale demolition operations in the neighborhood, which included a number of homes in addition to the Al-Bustan Center and tent.

She said, “Targeting the Al-Bustan neighborhood – which is located on an area of 70 dunums and includes 80 homes housing about 1,500 Jerusalemite citizens – constitutes a violation of the right of Jerusalemites to housing.”

She added that the goal is to “empty the city of its original residents and force them to emigrate with the complicity of settlement associations that seek to turn the neighborhood into a settlement outpost.”

The Islamic Christian Commission called on “the concerned Palestinian authorities to provide all forms of support and assistance to the residents of the Al-Bustan neighborhood in order to enable them to defend their right to remain in their homes.”

It also called on the international community and human rights organizations to shoulder their responsibilities to intervene to stop the crimes of ethnic cleansing against Jerusalemites.
