On Thursday morning, Israeli occupation forces bombed Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza Strip, while a UN committee accused Israel of implementing a coordinated policy to destroy the health care system in Gaza.

Tel Aviv Tribune’s correspondent reported that the occupation aircraft bombed the third floor of the hospital, which includes a desalination plant in the dialysis department, the engineering and maintenance departments, and water tanks in Kamal Adwan Hospital.

In turn, Palestinian media said that the Israeli bombing led to the burning of the warehouse of medicines and medical supplies brought by the World Health Organization a few days ago.

Immediately, the Ministry of Health in Gaza condemned the repeated attack by the Israeli occupation forces on Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza.

In a statement, the Ministry appealed to international bodies and organizations to intervene to protect hospitals and medical teams from the oppression of the occupation.

The director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, Dr. Hossam Abu Safiya, made an urgent appeal to rescue dozens of wounded inside the hospital as the siege and occupation massacres continued in northern Gaza, stressing that the hospital is in dire need of doctors and surgeons.

Last week, the occupation forces stormed the hospital and arrested the majority of the medical staff and a number of patients, leaving only two doctors inside.

Services are down

In a related context, the Palestinian Civil Defense Service in Gaza announced, on Thursday, that all rescue and firefighting operations in the northern Gaza Strip were forcibly suspended for the eighth day in a row due to the ongoing Israeli targeting and aggression, leaving thousands of Palestinians without any medical care or services.

In a statement via Telegram, the Civil Defense appealed to the international community and its humanitarian institutions, the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and the International Committee of the Red Cross, to intervene urgently to enable its crews to perform their humanitarian duty in northern Gaza.

The statement called on these institutions to intervene to allow the remaining fire, rescue and ambulance vehicles to resume operation, which the Israeli army is still holding near the Beit Lahia cemetery in the northern Gaza Strip, and to fire from its aircraft at anyone who tries to approach them.

On October 23, the Civil Defense announced that it had completely stopped its work in the North Governorate, after the Israeli army arrested 5 of its members, directly targeted 3 others, and bombed the only fire truck.

On October 5, the Israeli army began unprecedented bombing operations on the camp, the town of Jabalia, and large areas in the northern Gaza Strip, before invading it the next day under the pretext of preventing Hamas from regaining its power, while the Palestinians say that Israel wants to occupy the region and displace its residents.

Systematic destruction

Meanwhile, the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory said on Wednesday that Israel had implemented a coordinated policy to destroy the health care system in the Gaza Strip, confirming Palestinian detainees were subjected to constant mistreatment, including torture, which is considered a war crime.

This came in a new report, which focused mainly on the attacks on medical facilities and the complete destruction of the health system in Gaza, and which the committee presented, on Wednesday, to the General Assembly.

The head of the committee, Navi Pele, said in a press conference held at the United Nations headquarters after submitting the report, that “Israel’s continued unabated attacks on health facilities in the Gaza Strip are outrageous.”

She stressed that an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip is the highest priority, and must pave the way for achieving peace and justice for all victims.

In turn, Investigative Committee member Chris Sidoti, in his speech during the same press conference, focused on the suffering of children as a result of what happened on October 7, 2023 in Israel and the war that followed in Gaza, saying, “Children are not terrorists.”

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with absolute American support, has been waging a war on Gaza, which has resulted in more than 144,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing persons, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst disasters. Humanity in the world.
