Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed that Israel had uncovered a plan prepared by the Lebanese Hezbollah to attack it through underground tunnels that included SUVs and missiles.
Netanyahu told the French networks “C News” and “Europe 1” yesterday, Wednesday, that “if this plan were to succeed, its harm would have been greater than that which the Hamas movement inflicted on Israel in its attack launched on October 7, 2023.”
Netanyahu explained in his statements, “We found tunnels that were being prepared to invade Israel, 100 to 200 meters from the border, and they were planning to carry out an invasion with four-wheel vehicles, motorcycles, and missiles.”
The Israeli Prime Minister considered that this attack prepared by Hezbollah “would have been an even greater attack than the attack of October 7, 2023.”
Netanyahu told the French newspaper Le Figaro earlier this month that the Israeli army found advanced Russian military equipment in Hezbollah weapons caches.
Since Israel escalated its bombing of Lebanon last month before sending ground forces across the border, the war has killed at least 1,552 people, according to Agence France-Presse statistics based on figures from the Lebanese Ministry of Health, although the real toll may be higher than that.
