Military expert Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi said that the killing of the commander of the 401st Brigade of the Israeli army in the northern Gaza Strip indicates the nature of the resistance, praising the capabilities of the Jabalia Camp Battalion, affiliated with the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
Al-Duwairi explained, during his analysis of the military scene in Gaza, that the general was expected to be killed as soon as he reached the outskirts of Jabalia, considering that the value of the event lies in the rank targeted by the resistance.
The occupation army announced that the commander of the 401st Brigade, Colonel Ihsan Daqsa, was killed and another officer was seriously injured in battles in Jabalia. The 401st Brigade falls under the 162nd Division, which is an armor brigade.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that Colonel Daksa was killed, and another officer was seriously injured in a battle inside the Jabalia camp, after boarding a tank that had an explosive device inside it.
Journalist Muhammad Khairy quoted Israeli sources as confirming that Daqsa was killed after getting off his tank, accompanied by other officers, and walking a distance of 20 meters, where an explosive device that had been planted in the place earlier exploded.
Today, Sunday, the Al-Qassam Brigades broadcast scenes of its fighters targeting Israeli military vehicles with explosive devices and anti-armor shells, in addition to fierce clashes with Israeli special forces from short distances.
Al-Duwairi believes that “it is not possible for an ordinary person to carry out a defensive battle like the resistance is currently doing in Jabalia, with its complications, extermination, and displacement,” stressing that it has outdone itself.
Under these circumstances, the military expert says, “American Special Forces cannot fight at the level of the Jabalia Camp Battalion, affiliated with the Al-Qassam Brigades.”
Al-Duwairi stated that the resistance is currently fighting under the title of “decentralization”, contrary to what happened in previous ground battles, and it is likely that the Jabalia battalion was divided into cluster cells, each cell containing 3 to 5 fighters, with its commander choosing targets based on field data.
He explained that the brigade commander came to the region with a group of officers in the operations and intelligence corner, after operations in Jabalia faltered despite 17 days having passed since they were launched.
It is likely that the deputy commander of the dead brigade will be chosen to lead the 401st Brigade “if he is not injured,” as another commander will then be searched for, indicating that the deputy commander of the brigade is often familiar with 85% of the field reality.
