Palestinian journalist Muhammad Khairi said that there is a huge uproar and a state of terror in Israel that can be monitored through the media and social media, in the wake of the Lebanese Hezbollah’s success in targeting the home of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s office confirmed that a drone, launched from Lebanon, directly hit Netanyahu’s house in Caesarea, south of Haifa. Meanwhile, Channel 12 quoted a source in Netanyahu’s office that the Prime Minister and his wife were not at home.
Israeli military sources considered that the arrival of the Hezbollah drone to a place where the Prime Minister lives was a miserable failure of the security services. Maariv newspaper quoted security circles as saying that this failure was borne by the Internal Security Agency (Shin Bet) and the Air Force.
As part of the reactions to the incident, the Israeli Air Force opened an investigation into how the Hezbollah drone reached the home of Prime Minister Netanyahu.
The unit charged with protecting high-ranking figures in Israel decided to tighten the protection and state of alert towards all symbols of Israeli authority, and it was also decided to tighten the movement of politicians, senior ministers and officials.
Meanwhile, the Israeli media began to wonder about Netanyahu’s whereabouts, “Why has he not yet given any speech or statement about what happened? Why does he not reveal his location? Was he inside or outside the house?”
In monitoring the impact of this incident on Israeli society, Khairy said – in his intervention on Tel Aviv Tribune – that the arrival of the Hezbollah drone to the Prime Minister’s house shook the Israelis, because the sound of the explosion was very loud, and despite that, the sirens did not sound in advance, in addition to the blackout. And the tight control imposed by the authorities.
The drone’s arrival at the Prime Minister’s house also reflects – adds Khairy – the failure of the Israeli Air Force and security services to confront it, which will expose it to severe criticism, especially since it was criticized when a Hezbollah drone arrived at the headquarters of the Golani Brigade.
An initial investigation by the Israeli army concluded that a drone launched by Hezbollah reached the soldiers’ dining room for dinner in the dining hall of a training base near Binyamina, south of Haifa.
The Israelis have come to believe that Hezbollah drones can accurately target important installations and places, without Air Force fighters being able to confront them.
They also consider that targeting the Prime Minister’s house is the most dangerous thing that has happened to them since the October 7 attack, because the target is the highest authority in Israel, and the Israelis will not deal with this event easily, as the Palestinian journalist says.
According to what the Israeli press reports, Netanyahu has been staying throughout the recent period in a fortified place under the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Defense or in a fortified basement in the occupied city of Jerusalem.
