The World Food Program announced on Saturday that food aid lines had been cut off from northern Gaza, while the United Nations said that the situation had “reached a breaking point in the north and south of the Strip.”

The UN program explained that food distribution points in northern Gaza were forced to close due to military operations and evacuation orders, in the ongoing devastating Israeli war on the Strip for the 372nd day.

The program confirmed that fire broke out in the only operating bakery in Jabalia after it was hit by an explosive ammunition, and that the escalation of violence in the northern Gaza Strip has a “catastrophic impact” on the food security of thousands of Palestinian families.

Breaking point

United Nations spokesman Farhan Haq said that aid entering the Gaza Strip has become at its lowest level in months, and no one in Gaza has received a food ration this month due to restrictions on the entry of relief supplies.

Haq confirmed – in a daily press conference – that the World Food Program reported that life-saving relief aid had stopped entering northern Gaza, adding that the main crossings to the northern Gaza Strip were closed and it would not be possible to cross them if the escalation continued.
The spokesman explained that the World Food Program distributed its last remaining food stocks in northern Gaza to partners and kitchens housing newly displaced families, but they are not enough for two weeks.

The UN official added, “The situation has reached a breaking point, also in southern Gaza,” stressing that there is no food distribution and bakeries are struggling to secure flour, which threatens to force them to close their doors at any time.

This comes as the occupation army continues its war on Gaza since the seventh of last October, leaving tens of thousands of martyrs, wounded and missing amid a humanitarian situation described as catastrophic and a worsening famine looming over this besieged sector.
