The Israeli army claims to have “eliminated” the commander of Hezbollah headquarters, in a strike targeting the suburbs of Beirut on the night of Monday to Tuesday. According to the Israeli army, Suhail Hussein Husseini was responsible for the transfer of weapons between Iran and Hezbollah, and was responsible for distributing weapons among Hezbollah units.

Israel also said it had started “limited, localized and targeted operations” against Hezbollah targets and infrastructure in southwest Lebanon. Lebanon called for the evacuation of these areas.

The Israeli army also targeted the Bureij refugee camp in Gaza, killing at least 21 people, according to Al-Aqsa hospital, where the bodies were taken.

In a televised message broadcast on the first anniversary of the October 7 attack by Hamas, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue the fight. “October 7 will symbolize for generations the cost of our rebirth and for generations it will demonstrate our determination and the strength of our spirit.”

The latest strikes increase the toll of Palestinian victims in Gaza, which is now close to 42,000 dead, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
