The Israeli occupation forces assassinated, at dawn on Monday, the journalist and activist in the field of international media, Wafaa Al-Adini, following an Israeli bombing of her home in Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.
The Israeli bombing of Al-Adini’s house also led to the death of her husband, Munir Attia Darwish Al-Adini, and their two children, Tamim and Balsam.
The Palestinian Media Forum said that the occupation forces assassinated the journalist Wafa Al-Adini, a prominent activist in the field of conveying the Palestinian narrative to foreign media, as a result of an Israeli bombing that left their home in the city of Deir Al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip.
The media forum confirmed that Wafaa Al-Adini devoted her life and devoted her effort to conveying the suffering of her oppressed people through the international media through a series of articles in the English language, dialogues with foreign activists, electronic conferences, photo exhibitions, and competitions for short films in the English language.
Widespread condemnation
The Center for the Protection of Palestinian Journalists condemned the assassination of Al-Adini, stressing that “the ongoing crimes against Palestinian journalists are the result of a decision taken at the highest level of the Israeli occupation with the aim of concealing the facts and preventing the disclosure of the massacres it is committing against civilians.”
The assassination of Al-Audaini at dawn on Monday sparked widespread interaction across platforms, while bloggers considered it an “intentional targeting to silence her voice.”
Activists and bloggers interacted on social media, as blogger Khaled Safi tweeted on X, saying, “The martyrdom of journalist Wafaa Al-Adini, who was distinguished by interacting with Western media and communicating the Palestinian narrative through foreign media… The occupation targeted her in a raid on the central region, bringing the number of martyred journalists to 175 martyrs.” “.
Journalist Ismail Farhat commented, saying, “Wafa Al-Adini, my fellow journalist, had an unbreakable spirit, racing against time with a determination that knew no retreat, carrying the voice of Palestine and the wounds of Gaza to the Western world, to be a witness to pain and a voice for truth in the darkest circumstances.”
As for blogger Christian, he tweeted, “Is there in history a greater betrayal of colleagues than that we are witnessing from journalists in the West towards the Palestinians? Israel has violated all the laws of war, including targeted killings of journalists on an unprecedented scale.”
Writer Nikic stressed through her tweet, saying, “No country in the world has attacked, targeted, or killed a number of journalists as Israel did last year. Simply because journalists reveal their atrocities and massacres and publish reports about ethnic cleansing… justice for journalists now.”
Numbers of martyred journalists in Gaza
Moreover, 16 Palestinians were martyred and others were injured on Sunday evening and early Monday, as a result of separate Israeli raids on the Gaza Strip.
The government media office in the Gaza Strip said that the number of journalist martyrs in the Strip rose to 174, after the assassination of journalist Wafa Ali Al-Adini.
The Government Media Office condemned in the strongest terms the targeting and killing of Palestinian journalists by the occupation forces, as part of the ongoing Israeli war since October 7, 2023, after the martyrdom of journalist Wafa Al-Adini.
The office called on the international community and relevant international organizations to intervene to deter the occupation and prosecute it in international courts.
With American support, since October 7, Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza that has left more than 137,000 Palestinians martyred and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
In disdain for the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to stop it immediately, and the orders of the International Court of Justice to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
