Israeli occupation forces stormed towns in the West Bank, and launched raids and arrests against Palestinians, which led to the outbreak of armed clashes in some areas.

The occupation forces stormed the cities of Al-Bireh and Nablus, and the towns of Azzun, east of Qalqilya, and Al-Yamoun, west of Jenin.

Palestinian media reported that the occupation forces stormed the village of Madama, south of Nablus, the new Askar camp, the village of Deir Abu Mash’al, west of Ramallah, the towns of Adh Dhahiriya and Idhna in the Hebron district, and the town of Qatana, north of occupied Jerusalem.

For its part, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades said that its fighters are engaged in fierce clashes with the forces storming the Askar al-Jadeed camp east of the city of Nablus, using machine guns and explosive devices.

Al-Aqsa TV channel said that violent clashes broke out between the Palestinian resistance and the occupation forces in the town of Tamoun, south of Tubas in the occupied West Bank, after it was stormed.

In Jenin, violent clashes erupted between resistance fighters and occupation forces in the town of Yamoun, where the Al-Quds Brigades – the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement – detonated an explosive device in occupation vehicles.

House demolition

On the other hand, the Israeli attacks, the occupation army demolished a Palestinian house in the southern West Bank, under the pretext of “building without a permit.”

Palestinian Muhannad Abu Jaheisha reported that an Israeli force stormed the town of Idhna and began demolishing his house in areas classified as (C) according to the Oslo Accords.

He explained that the house consists of two floors with an area of 220 square meters, and that the demolition process came suddenly, as the house was evacuated and its contents were emptied with the help of neighbors before it was demolished.

Earlier, Israeli bulldozers demolished the house of Palestinian Mustafa Bani Odeh in the village of Al-Jiftlik in the northern Jordan Valley under the same pretext.

Israeli authorities prohibit construction or land reclamation in Area C without permits, which Palestinians say are almost impossible to obtain.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission (official), Israel demolished 318 Palestinian facilities in the occupied West Bank during the first half of 2024.

The demolition comes after the UN General Assembly approved on Wednesday, by a majority of 124 votes to 14, the first resolution submitted by Palestine, calling for Israel to withdraw from the occupied territories within 12 months.

Promote settlement

In a related context, Israeli Interior Minister Moshe Arbel called for strengthening settlements in the occupied West Bank, in clear defiance of international laws.

Arbil’s statements came during his presence in the Gush Etzion settlement in the southern West Bank, according to Israel’s Channel 12.

The right-wing Israeli government has escalated settlement in the West Bank since taking office at the end of 2022.

Data from the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission indicate that the Israeli army seized, by military orders, about 27,000 dunams of West Bank land during the first half of the current year 2024.

According to Israeli estimates, more than 720,000 settlers live in settlements in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

Under international law, Israeli settlements built on Palestinian land in the West Bank and East Jerusalem are illegal.

In parallel with its war on the Gaza Strip since October 7, the Israeli army expanded its operation in the West Bank while settlers escalated their attacks, leading to the martyrdom of 716 Palestinians, the injury of about 5,750, and the arrest of more than 10,800, according to official Palestinian institutions.
