The so-called “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” said that it targeted the Israeli Golani Brigade observation base “in the occupied Palestinian territories” with drones this morning, Monday.

The “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” includes factions, the most prominent of which are the Hezbollah Brigades, the Al-Nujaba Brigades, and the Sayyid al-Shuhada Brigades, which are three factions targeted by American sanctions.

The group added in a statement: “The Mujahideen of the Islamic Resistance in Iraq targeted the observation base of the Zionist Golani Brigade in our occupied territories this morning, Monday, using drones. The Islamic Resistance confirms its continuation in destroying the strongholds of the enemies.”

The statement indicated that the attack came “in support of our people in Gaza and in response to the massacres committed by the occupying entity against Palestinian civilians, including children, women and the elderly.”

The “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” said late Sunday that it had carried out a drone attack on “a target in the Jordan Valley in our occupied territories,” stressing that it was the fifth attack in one day and that it would continue its attacks “at an escalating pace.”

In two separate statements about the attack on a target in the Jordan Valley, the Israeli military said it fired missiles to intercept a drone launched from Iraq and detected it crossing from Syria into Israel. No injuries were reported.

Solidarity with Gaza

It is noteworthy that armed Shiite factions in Iraq have threatened to carry out attacks on Israel in solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza against the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7.

In recent months, the “Islamic Resistance in Iraq” faction announced launching drone attacks on targets in Israel.

Since last April, Israel has confirmed a number of air strikes from the east without pointing the finger at a specific party, saying that it intercepted the drones outside its airspace.
