The Israeli army spokesman said on Friday that Israeli forces will continue the “extensive campaign” in the northern West Bank and the Jordan Valley.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) also announced that one of its employees was killed by an Israeli sniper in the northern occupied West Bank, in an incident that is the first of its kind in 10 years.

The relief agency said in a statement, “We mourn Sufyan Abdul Jawad, a UNRWA worker in the Far’a camp in the northern West Bank, who was shot by an (Israeli) sniper on the roof of his house.”

This comes as the Palestinian Prisoners Club announced that the number of arrests in the West Bank since the start of the ongoing war on Gaza has reached more than 10,700 cases, not including the arrests in the besieged Strip, which are estimated in the thousands.

Funeral

Today, thousands of Palestinians buried the bodies of 10 martyrs killed by the Israeli army during its military operation in the Tubas and Tulkarm governorates in the northern West Bank.

Mourners in Tulkarm participated in a farewell procession for 5 citizens who were martyred during the 3-day military operation.

The procession set off from in front of Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital, and the bodies were buried in Tulkarm and Nour Shams camps and the town of Shuweika, near the city.

In the city of Tubas, thousands mourned 5 other martyrs who were killed by Israeli shelling during the two-day military operation.

On the other hand, settlers today uprooted hundreds of olive trees and fruit trees and demolished an agricultural room on the outskirts of the town of Jaba, south of Jenin, in the northern West Bank.

Al-Quds Brigades

Earlier today, the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement, mourned 5 of its members who were martyred while preparing ambushes targeting the occupation forces.

The Brigades explained that five of its members were martyred in an Israeli raid while preparing ambushes and explosive devices targeting the occupation forces in Tubas, north of the West Bank. It added, “We mourn the five martyrs of the Tubas Battalion from the Manufacturing and Engineering Unit, and we affirm our commitment to the path of jihad until liberation.”

Yesterday, it mourned 3 of its fighters who were martyred in an Israeli raid while confronting the occupation forces’ storming of the city of Tulkarm and its camp.

On Thursday evening, the Israeli army withdrew from Tulkarm and Tubas in the northern West Bank, after carrying out military operations in the first city that lasted 3 days, and the second that lasted two days, which left widespread destruction.

In parallel with its war on Gaza, the Israeli army expanded its operations in the West Bank, while settlers escalated their attacks on Palestinians and their property, resulting in 703 Palestinian martyrs, including 159 children, in addition to 5,700 wounded, and more than 10,400 detainees, according to official Palestinian institutions.
