The Israeli army bombed a humanitarian camp on Monday night. The IDF said it wanted to target a Hamas command center.
In Gaza, Israeli airstrike hits humanitarian campsheltering Palestinians displaced by the war. The strike killed at least 19 people and wounded 60 others, according to Gaza’s health ministry.
10-meter-deep craters
Local authorities reported that at least four missiles struck the camp, located in a humanitarian zone in Muwasi. Gaza Civil Defense, the first responders operating under the Hamas-led government, said the strike left craters up to 10 meters deep.
Israel disputes the Gaza health ministry’s casualty toll, saying its forces used precise munitions to target Hamas militants while avoiding civilians.
Investigation opened into the death of an American pro-Palestinian
This attack comes shortly after the assassination of a young American woman 26-year-old by the Israeli army in the West Bank. The IDF admitted that the victim, a pro-Palestinian activist named Aysenur Ezgi Eyg, was likely shot dead “indirectly and unintentionally” by soldiers during an anti-colonial demonstration.
Israel has expressed its “deepest regrets” for the young woman’s death and said a criminal investigation had been opened.
