The beginning of this week marks a month since the war in the south began. Since October 7th until today, hundreds of thousands of citizens have been recruited for long reserve service. The close of the current month raises doubts about the payments and rights of the reserve servants. When will they receive peace?
Salaried employees who were called to reserve service to receive their salary while in reserve, what do they work as usual. The employer receives the peace from the National Insurance Institute. Attorney Neta Bromberg, head of the labor law department at the Barnea Jaffe Landa office, explains that the words pay the reserve servant a salary as they would pay him if it were not for the reserves, without change, as if they worked other than this and did not go to the military service. This payment is called salary advances.
When will independents get peace?
The most significant change during the war is to the tasks of the independent reserve. Attorney Bromberg explains that the self-employed will receive the peace for service at the beginning of each month, and not at the end of service as was the case until today. In addition, they will not have to file claims as was the case until now. of 125% of their salary from the National Insurance for the reserve days. The compensation is limited to a ceiling of NIS 47,465 per month and NIS 1,582 per day reserve.
What about non-working citizens, students and volunteers from abroad?
I think that they will receive their salary earlier due to the war, they are non-working citizens and students. They will not have to file a claim and will receive the salary automatically at the beginning of the month. The minimum wage will be NIS 215.17 per day.
As for the volunteers who came from abroad – the insurance institution did not announce that it contacted the IDF to accept private volunteers and they will receive the peace automatically into the bank account, this is also a bank abroad.
What rewards are given for long reserve service?
According to the reserve law, a reservist is entitled, in addition to payment from the National Insurance Institute, to additional payment for the days he has served. The payment is made once a year on May 1st, and the purpose is to reward the reservists who perform active and long reserve service. The payment is made according to steps throughout the days of the reserve and not a reduction of taxes. For example, those who perform more than 37 reserve days will receive NIS 5,640. In addition, a grant of NIS 133 will be given for each day of service from the 32nd to the 60th day.
Those who are considered to serve in active reserve service (20 days in three years) receive additional benefits, including a discount on paying the property tax, renewing a driver’s license at a nominal cost of ten shekels, a discount on a car license, and a 50% discount on renewing a passport.
What are the discounts for customers?
Attorney Bromberg explains that on normal days, the workers pay the workers and then submit a claim to the National Insurance Institute – together with a military certificate for the reserve service – to receive the reimbursement. The worker receives the balance.
In view of the war, the Ministry of Defense, the National Insurance and the General Account announced that the National Insurance payments will be transferred every month and not at the end of the reserve service as has been done until now. “As of today, the National Insurance Institute exempted service workers from attaching a military certificate for reserve service, and brought forward the date for the payment of reserve benefits,” explains Attorney Domberg. Reserve benefits are paid as early as the beginning of November in order to receive the reimbursement for the reserve benefits paid to employees and employees have an addition for Reserve service at a rate of 40%, and this will be paid at the end of service by the National Insurance Institute, plus no change.
What about payments to the tax authority?

With the cost of property tax, rent and mortgage?
The Ministry of Justice hastened to enact a law according to which various populations, including the reserve officers, are entitled to postpone many other payments for 30 days, while the Minister of Defense, with the agreement of the Minister of Justice and the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee, can extend the deadline. The payments included in the law are any date set in the contract, payments for judgments. That is, the reserves can postpone payment of her mortgage, loan, rent, property tax, and any payment to an administrative authority. The postponement will not apply to the payment of alimony.
In addition, all the banks announced relief for the reserve servants – deferment of loan payments and mortgage payments for at least three months, and in some banks up to six months. Some banks even announced that there would be no commission limit from the reserve servants for a few months.
