The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that it showed the positivity required to reach a comprehensive and satisfactory agreement based on the just demands of the Palestinian people, directing sharp criticism at the US administration and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.
Hamas confirmed in a statement that while the US Secretary of State continues to talk about Israel’s approval of President Joe Biden’s proposal, no Israeli official has been heard talking about this approval.
She pointed out that the world did not hear any welcome or approval from Israel to the Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire.
Hamas pointed out that Blinken’s positions, which “try to exonerate the occupation, are a continuation of the American policy of complicity in the brutal war of extermination,” and called on the American minister and the Biden administration to put pressure on the occupation government, “which is determined to complete the mission of killing and extermination.”
She also said that she dealt positively and responsibly with the latest proposal and all proposals for a ceasefire and the release of detainees.
Hamas noted that it agreed to the proposal it received from the mediators on May 5, while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by attacking Rafah.
The US Secretary of State confirmed – following the talks he held in Doha yesterday, Wednesday – that there are gaps between Hamas and Israel that can be bridged, indicating that Washington will work with Egypt and Qatar to bridge those gaps.
In an interview with Tel Aviv Tribune during his visit to Qatar, the US Secretary of State said that the current deal proposal is the fastest and most effective way to reach a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.
Blinken also said – in a press conference in Doha – that Hamas responded to the ceasefire deal proposal after it took 12 days to wait for its response. He added that the movement proposed many amendments to the proposal, some of which cannot be accepted.
