Three men were sentenced to 26 and 28 years in prison for the assassination of the investigative journalist who worked on the mafia.
A Dutch court found three men guilty of murder for their role in the assassination of investigative journalist Peter R. de Vries in 2021. This murder shocked the Netherlands, which had become aware of the scale of drug trafficking in the country.

The shooter, the driver and the organizer of the attack were found guilty of having directly participated in the assassination. The shooter and driver were sentenced to 28 years in prison; the man who organized the murder was sentenced to 26 years and one month in prison.
A total of nine men have been charged for their alleged role in the murder. Four other suspects were convicted of complicity in murder.

Journalist Peter R. de Vries was shot dead in July 2021 in the center of Amsterdam, when he had become close to a repentant, Nabil Bakkali, who was the key witness in a trial on the drug trafficking group Mocro Maffia.
