After his visit to Chisinau, Antony Blinken is due to attend a meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Prague.
The US Secretary of State assured Moldova of Washington’s support during his meeting with Moldovan President Maia Sandu in Chisinau.
Antony Blinken assured that the United States considers Moldova as a “very valuable partner in the region“and were sustainably committed to working together to build”a resilient democracy“and support”inclusive economic growth“.
“We must continue to diversify your energy supply so that you do not have to rely on a single source. added the American Secretary of State.
He also called for ensuring that “the Moldovan people are fundamentally the ones who decide their own future and their own course“.
Moldova particularly fears destabilizing actions orchestrated by Russia.
Moscow is also suspected of being behind new anti-Western movements in Georgia.
This visit takes place only two weeks after his trip to Ukraine to assure Kyiv of Washington’s support in the face of intensifying Russian attacks in the north.
