Elderly Palestinian woman Laila Sheikh Al-Eid, one of the dialysis patients at Abu Youssef Al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah, spoke of her fear of the deterioration of her health because she may not be able to reach the hospital to receive treatment with the Israeli army’s incursion into the eastern areas of the city located in the southern Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian woman said in front of Abu Youssef Al-Najjar Hospital that she can now enter the medical facility for dialysis, but she does not know where she and the other patients will go for treatment if the hospital is attacked.
She added, “I face a big problem getting transportation between the hospital and Tal al-Sultan, west of Rafah. Patients come for dialysis despite the deportation and the risks.”
She continued that if she did not receive daily treatment, the toxins would spread throughout her body and she would lose the ability to move, pointing to the difficult conditions in which she was being treated.
Abu Youssef Al-Najjar Hospital is located within Block 13, east of the city of Rafah, which is included in the Israeli deportation operations targeting tens of thousands of residents of the area.
The occupation’s orders to deport residents of the eastern neighborhoods of Rafah raised fears among residents and displaced people about the possibility of the hospital being out of service due to Israeli bombing and military operations.
