Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari said that the Qatari delegation will head to Cairo on Tuesday morning to resume indirect negotiations between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Al-Ansari told Qatar News Agency that the Hamas movement sent to the mediators a response to their proposals regarding the truce, adding that the response can be described as positive.

The spokesman indicated that Qatar hopes that the round will culminate in reaching an immediate and permanent ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, the exchange of prisoners and detainees, and the sustainable entry of humanitarian aid into all areas of the Strip.

Earlier yesterday, Monday, the Hamas movement said that the head of its political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, made a phone call with the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, and with the Director of Egyptian Intelligence, Abbas Kamel, and informed them of the movement’s approval of the proposed ceasefire agreement.

Khalil Al-Hayya, deputy head of the Hamas movement in Gaza, said – during an interview with Tel Aviv Tribune – that the proposal presented by the mediators to the movement includes three stages, and includes a complete withdrawal of the occupation forces from Gaza, the return of the displaced, and an exchange of prisoners.
