Missile attacks on Kyiv and the city of Kharkiv this Tuesday morning killed at least seven people and injured dozens of others, according to local authorities.

In Kharkiv, the country’s second largest city, several apartment buildings were also hit by missiles, and according to the mayor, a still unknown number of people are still trapped in the rubble.

In the Ukrainian capital, Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that the strikes killed one person and injured 18 others in four residential neighborhoods.

These recent Russian attacks primarily targeted Ukrainian defenses and attempted to detect their weaknesses by sending a significant number of drones and missiles to saturate the anti-aircraft defense systems.

The strikes came shortly after Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s visit to Ukraine, who promised to continue supporting Kyiv against the Russian invasion.
