Families of hostages held in Gaza disrupted a Knesset session, accusing Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of ignoring their plight.
Dozens of family members of hostages held in Gaza stormed a parliamentary session in the Knesset on Monday to demand the release of their loved ones.
The event took place shortly after the confirmation of the death of a hostage. Despite the lack of results from the military operation in Gaza, the government defends its record. For its part, Hamas conditions the release of other hostages on a new ceasefire.
“I say we will do everything so that the children, brothers and wives come home safe and sound” said Moshe Gafni, MP and Chairman of the Finance Committee.
In southern Israel, families of victims of the October 7 attack hope to bring the site of the massacre back to life by planting trees.
According to Israeli authorities, 364 people were killed and 40 others were taken hostage on this site which was hosting an electronic music festival that day.
Dozens of hostages were released in November in an exchange with Palestinian prisoners held in Israel.
According to Israeli authorities, 132 people are still detained in Gaza. The government has so far refused to negotiate another such deal.
